The Power of Food, Nature, and Connection: Managing Overwhelm as a Mum and Business Owner
May 08, 2023As a business owner and a mum, I know firsthand how overwhelming life can be. Running a business is like a never-ending rollercoaster ride filled with ups and downs. But despite the challenges, being able to work from home, be there for my family, and share my gifts with others makes it all worthwhile. That being said, there are times when I feel like throwing in the towel. But, through trial and error, I've discovered a few ways to manage the overwhelm and keep pushing forward. Here are my top three tips:
-
Cook! Cooking can be a great way to ground and nurture yourself. Even though it may feel like another item on your to-do list, taking some time to create a delicious and nourishing meal for yourself and your family can be deeply rewarding. Plus, sitting down together at the end of the day to enjoy a meal can be a great way to connect and recharge.
-
Get out in nature. There's nothing like spending time in nature to reset your mind and body. Whether it's a quick walk around the block, a barefoot stroll on the beach, or a meditation session in the sun, being outside can help you feel more grounded and centered.
-
Talk it out with a friend. Sometimes, all you need is someone to talk to. Reach out to a friend, and chat about what's on your mind. If you're more of a private person, try journaling instead. Writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you process and move through your emotions.
In conclusion, when it comes to managing overwhelm, it's important to get back to basics. Focusing on food, family, nature, and connection can help you reset and recharge. Remember, overwhelm will pass, and you'll soon be back to tackling new challenges.
